Play Time!

Ady has a new favorite way to pass the time. She loves going to the park and playing on the slide and in the swing. We are having a party this Friday for Ady's one year birthday. You're all invited! We'll be having cake and ice cream. She decided last Sunday that she could walk. Literally it was like she just decided. Now she walks everywhere. Everyday she has a big fall though. Thursday she had a big bump on her head after she fell flat on her face.

"I wanna go outside"

Adyson is more fun everyday. She is getting into everything! The other day she wanted my snorkel so I showed her how to put it on and she thought she was hot stuff. She was giggling and showing off. Everyday she goes to the door, points outside and squeals. She just loves being outside. Sometimes she'll see other kids out playing in the street or something and will just squeal and squeal pointing outside. We bought her a birthday present last week. Don't tell her, but we got her a forward facing car seat at a swap meet for 5 dollars. She just hates sitting in the back by herself looking out the rear windshield.

Ady in the Spring

Basically we are very busy keeping up with Adyson. She is almost 1 year old-How time has flown by for us! I don't know what we would do without her now. She definitely keeps us up and going and is the entertainment part of our lives. She is waving bye-bye really good now. During one of Adams class Adyson goes to her friend So-eul's house. (Her dad was AP in my Mission) and she is always happy to play with her. She gets there and goes straight in and then waves bye-bye to her dad, her eyes saying "ok-you can leave now so I can play" Its very cute. She is definitely a Daddy's girl now since she spends so much time with him while I work. She is also getting brave and trying to walk but usually falls after 2-3 steps. She is also actually making noise when she claps now too.
Adam is just now starting his finals and getting all his semester projects and reports turned in. He is getting straight A's. I am not sure the exact reason, but here are my top 5 guesses
1. He has figured out how and that you have to jump thru the loops of school
2. He has brain washed his teachers into thinking he's a great student
3. He is doing his homework before the last minute before its due
4. He is finally taking education seriously now that he has a kid.
5. He is in remorse for not taking education more seriously when he just had a wife.
Actually I am very proud of him and glad that he is working hard and succeeding at school. It makes me happier when I am working to support us. I am enjoying my job. Sometimes I don't feel like I have enough to do, but I don't think that will be a problem for long. On top of my normal general ledger and reconciliation duties, they keep giving me more things to do. I just got assigned to be purchasing director in my office, and right now I am reading scholarship essays and I get to input on who gets what scholarships. It is taking a lot of reading about everyones sob-story and why they need the scholarship. Even though it gets redundant, it does make me grateful that I have not experienced what a lot of the foreign students here from 3rd world countries and such have had to go thru and the difficulties they still face.
On a good note though, my boss pulled me in the office a couple days ago and told me that there would soon be a staff position open and that I should apply for it. I guess that means she likes me. This is good because then I will not be a temporary employee anymore and I will get benefits!

First Steps!!!

Last night Ady took her first steps! She took a couple of steps and then plopped down. We clapped and so did she. She has been testing the walking thing for a bit now and is really getting brave. She loves walking around the room using the walls and things to hang on to. But occasionally now she'll let go for a second and move from one object to another without help. Next time you see her she'll be walking all over.

"look mom, no hands"

Ady has picked up a few new tricks. The first one is standing up. Look closely, you'll see that she is sitting on a basketball. She thinks that the basketball is hers. So it was in her crib and she started sitting on it and pretty soon she got bolder and we noticed that she was standing next to it. Now she tries to stand up all the time. She can stay up for about 5 seconds and then she starts waving her arms, and falls over. We laugh at her and she claps.
The other new trick is she has figured out how to open our phones. She loves how they beep when she pushes buttons. She even hits send once in a while and once called Kasey which was the last number I had dialed. So if you get a call from one of us and there is no one there say "hi Ady!"

Basketball is Life!!

If you wanted to know what we are happy and exited about... it would be basketball. We just went to the last game the BYUH Seasiders played (Ady even got into cheering with her pom pom thingy)...we are so far undefeated in basketball intramurals for both the Mens and Womens teams in our wards...the USU Aggies just won Boise State...the Jazz won again and are looking good...and of course its just the beginning of March and that means there is a lot more Basketball to come. Just for those who are wondering we still have our "Show me the Title" poster up on our wall. And actually I can only take so much talk about basketball so any of you guys who want to call and talk sports with Adam I'd be grateful!

Food Fest

This is us when we went to Food Fest last weekend. The ethnic and culture clubs on campus cook various foods from their countries and you turn in tickets to try the food. We got Korean food of course. Bulgogi! Then we drove to town and watched the Aggies play the Warriors. The Aggies lost but we still had a great night. It was our Valenties celebration. And we bought Ady a little plastic phone so that she could have her own phone and stop chewing on ours. She still prefers ours though.

Adyson and her betty doll

This is Ady sleeping with her doll betty and Kasey sleeping with Ady. They look pretty cute laying there holding each other. We've all had this nasty cold and haven't done much lately except school and work. Ady was given this doll by some lady at the grocery store the other day and she just loves it.

Hey everyone, Ady wanted me to load this picture so she could wave and invite anyone who wants to come play with her at the beach. She loves the warm weather and would love to have her friends come play. You can even look at pictures of things to do in Hawaii on her other blog-vantastichawaii.blogspot.com. There's even a link to your right.

Ady loves the beach

Adyson loves playing at the beach. She likes it when the water comes up and her feet and legs get wet. She giggles and tries to chase the water when it recedes.

Adyson got your package Rachel. She loved it. Of course I was picking up torn pieces of wrapping paper all day after she decided to eat the packaging. She loved how when she stuck her finger in a hole then it made noise. She would stick her finger in, it would say something and then she would just giggle. It was more fun to watch her than it was to play the actual game.

mobility has its difficulties

This is Ady asleep. This is when we can get something done. Otherwise it's the "Ady show". At church today I looked away for a second and then when I looked back she wasn't there. (She had been sitting between my feet). Then I found her. She had crawled up front by the blackboard that the guy was using to teach his lesson and was using it to pull herself up. So I got up, I was sitting on the back row and we meet in the cultural hall-she had crawled a long ways, and had to get her. When she saw me coming she just smiled at me and everyone else. President Wheelright, the University President, was visiting our ward today. After church his wife who wasn't even in priesthood says to me, "looks like you got quite a handfull there". Adyson was only wearing her diaper then cuz towards the end of priesthood she blew out her diaper. I had to clean up the floor in the cultural hall after class. Earlier this week Adyson had a rough lesson in gravity. I had laid her down to take a nap and fell asleep next to her on our bed. Well she woke up before me and noticing I was asleep decided to be deviant. I'm not sure if she was planning on using my cell phone to make prank calls to China or just wanting to play with matches. But whatever her design was she was in such a rush to get away that she forgot about being on the bed. So I awoke with a start to the sound of the stroller crashing over. She had fallen into the stroller, which fortunately was next to the bed, and tipped it over and landed on her back. Naturally I explained gravity and a few other things that all kids need to learn to her. Hopefully she understands now, if not we'll have to design a power point presentation for her.

ATRIUS

Being that the weather is really nice and Adyson loves being outdoors we like to go on walks whenever possible. We call Adyson's stroller ATRIUS. It stands for All Terrain Rough-It-Up Stroller. We take it everywhere. And we don't need pavement or sidewalk to do so. Trails, across grass whatever and where ever. Adyson loves it. But we have discovered something weird. Other babies that we see in their strollers ride like the last picture, relaxed and leaning back. Not Adyson, She has two ways to ride. Either looking forward to see where we are going or looking up at us and trying to talk. As for non-stroller news Adyson can crawl on her hands and knees now. No more army crawl. And she has learned how to open cupboards and likes to get things out now.

So Ady has developed a few bad habits. One is that she doesn't like sleeping in her bed and wants to sleep in ours. Last night I woke up at 2 am when she hit me in the face. Our apartment is so small that our bed is next to hers. And now that she can stand up she can reach over and touch me in my bed. So she likes to wake me up and squawk till I get up and get her. So I tried a new method and instead got in bed with her once. It wasn't comfy at all and she didn't even fall asleep. Another bad habit is now she can spit. She sticks her tongue out and blows saliva all over. She has also learned how to make a sound with her mouth that sounds like someone farting. She loves doing that one in public cuz people always look at her. But the worst is the other day I had to take her with me to an appointment with my advisor and she had a diaper issue in the middle of the appointment. She peed all over the floor and then had poop coming out the side on her leg. I'm sure my advisor was glad when we left!

Adam's New Hobby

Ok, for those of you who haven't noticed, Adam has become enthrawled with the blogging(even though he has a million other hobbies too), so I haven't had to post for a while now. This is good now that this is a family hobby,,, especially since adam does do most of the picture taking. It will motivate him to take more pics with people in. Also you'lll be getting both our opinions...since I know all of you like to hear what we both have to say. ha ha. Even though I was enjoying the blogging I think its better now that we both input. So here is a thanks to Emma Johns for introducing "the Blog" to us. (which, even though I don't blog half as often, compared to the scrapbooking, I can definitely relate with it)
And by the way-- One more Key West Fact: Our Bishop knows Sonny Knowles from back in the day of flying airplanes. His name is Louis Prescott. Small World huh?

Will the real Slim Shady please stand up...

I think Ady has developed a new motto. It's why sit down when you can stand? All day now every chance she gets she stands up. And usually she calls out so that you can notice and she'll give you that look like "look I'm as cool as you now". I guess she decided we weren't giving her due credit and got a little bored here.

Cutest girl award

So Kasey joined the Korean club (I decided to join the Scuba Diving club instead), and at their opening social they played this game and everyone voted on who the cutest girl in the room was. Well Adyson won. We were the only married couple there and I guess we ruined some single girls chance to shine for the boys but oh well you can't deny that she's cute. By the way in this picture we are at the Blowhole and saw a whale. Kasey said that we didn't actually see the the whale just it's spray. It surfaced a few times and sprayed. I saw part of it's back but Kasey says that claiming to see a whale is misleading. Kasey won the strongest girl award at the Korean party. They had an arm wrestling competition and Kasey killed all the Korean girls. And for the really important new, Kasey got a job. She is an accountant in the finance department at BYU-Hawaii. Thank goodness, now we can make rent next month!

Ady's Favorite Toys

Here is Ady's Favorite Toys. She loves all of her Rubber Duckies, and a colored ball she has. If you put any toys in front of her and there is a ducky, she will pick up the ducky first thing. She now has 6 of them. Her Dad even found her a Hula Duck and got it for her.

Christmas Catch-Up

I have the catch up now on Christmas. We were with the family and it was really great, even if we were running around a lot to get to both families, finish packing, help with Leslie and Brandon's wedding, get sledding in at least once, and let the Grandmas see Ady for the last time for a while. Here are some of our favorite pictures.

Aloha Hawaii

Well, we have made it to Hawaii!!! When we left Morgan it was a frigid negative 10 degrees and we said enough is enough. We were very pleased to find it was a warm balmy 79 degrees upon arrival in Honolulu. Ady loves to just wear onesies and light dresses again. We found a stroller for her and enjoy taking walks all over. We love going to the beach and I enjoyed watching Kasey show how good she is at boogie boarding! She thought she had it till the board came loose and then all that was above water was her feet. I've got to learn how to say wipeout in Hawaiian. It was a big wave, a whole 3 feet! Well good thing we have time to practice. This coming week we get to go to the Polynesian Cultural Center for free as part of my orientation and on Friday there is a Luau for all students! After a couple of long days being frustrated by used car salesman we ended buying a car from an old neighbor and with a bit of help from them we have been able find the Walmart, Costco and HomeDepot. Our house is small, no I mean tiny, actually if any of you can think of a word that means smaller than the smallest ever then that is how big it is. But fortunately we don't have much since we left so much on the mainland. Makes life simpler. We would love to have you visit but if you want plenty of space for a whole family I suggest waiting till July when hopefully we have moved into a bigger place. Then again if you want to see how we can get food out of the fridge with out getting out of bed come on over now.
